NIght Sky

Recently, I had an old friend, whom I studied with at the Brooks Institute, come and stay with us in Big Sur. Arnaldo and I became inspired to revert back to our days of late night photo shoots and set out to photograph the night sky.
For those of you who have yet to try this, shooting with a high ISO of 1600, slow shutter speed like 30 sec. and the fastest aperture your glass can deliver. With a little post processing, the results are stunning.

For these two images, we used a flashlight to illuminate the apple tree from 90º camera left. This added an interesting twist to the foreground elements.

Panoramic Series #17: Cone Peak From the South

Cone Peak, coast range, Big Sur, CA. Need I say more.

Panoramic Series #16: Big Sur River - Mouth of the Gorge

This was taken last Fall. Slowed the shutter speed to get that essence of movement in the water and lightened the edges for tonal balance. Considering printing on metal for this shot, should look amazing. We will see.

Snowboard/Ski Session - Alta Sierra Jan. 2013

Andy Anderson - Cutting Lines
Shirley Meadows has had a few decent storms this Winter, leaving Alta Sierra with just enough snow for some good skiing and snowboarding action. I took full advantage of the Winter conditions myself but eventually I had to get out there with my camera to get some photos of the local talent and scenic beauty.

Panoramic Series #15: Kelly's Hole, Upper Kern River

Kelly's Hole - Upper Kern River, CA
I have spent countless hours on the Kern River Summer after Summer. There are beautiful swimming holes all up and down its banks and Kelly's Hole is one of my all time favorites. Just look at the 180º view, how could you not have a good times in a naturally breath taking place like this?

Panoramic Series #14: Rainy Sunset Kelso Valley

A few weeks back there were some amazing thunderstorms that made their way through the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains.  As the sun was setting, the rays of light broke through the underside of the cloud coverage and illuminated the rain as it was falling on the Piute Mountains.

Piper Lovemore Belly Photos

Piper and Chaz have since had their beautiful little girl that was in the womb when we took these photos, but I have to share these still. They are one of the most beautiful and loving families I know and this little girl has come unto an amazing new life.
