Panoramic Series #15: Kelly's Hole, Upper Kern River

Kelly's Hole - Upper Kern River, CA
I have spent countless hours on the Kern River Summer after Summer. There are beautiful swimming holes all up and down its banks and Kelly's Hole is one of my all time favorites. Just look at the 180º view, how could you not have a good times in a naturally breath taking place like this?

  1. Ive been there, used to go up with my parents every August since age 13. Our Black Lab King went with us, he always jumped into the water after us and followed us. I remember the time my brothet and I saw a young moose walking down the river. We hiked across from Kelleys hole, fished, swam, sat on the Rocks, roughed it camping, no Rvs, and my brother and Dad jumped off the cliffs into the water.

My Dad even killed a snake with a bowing knife by the big diving rock after someone told me to go throw rocks at it. I was watching his 5 year old.

Sleeping under the stars, eating camp cooked food, learning how to track mountain lions, Those were the days.
